About Zakopane

Zakopane - the picturesque resort deservedly called the capital of the high Polish Tatra Mountains, very attractive for tourists all the year round. It is a convenient starting place for numerous exceptionally beautiful mountain trips. Many peaks, offering really gorgious views, are easily accessible in one-day walking excursions along marked touristic paths. The town itself also provides all kinds of entertainment to make the stay there enjoyable for everybody.

Conference Days
The participants are awaited in the "Siwarna" rest house beginning May 20 (Sunday) from 14.00 till 22.00 with supper on that day as the first meal. For Monday morning a guided walking tour in the mountains is planned. The opening and plenary lectures are scheduled for May 21 (Monday) at 13.30. The exact place will be specified at the beginning of May on the Conference www page. All sessions in thematic groups will take place in "Siwarna" on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday is the day for the excursion to Wieliczka and the reception party.

Conference Programme and Proceedings
The Conference language is English.
The detailed Conference Programme will be placed on the www page, sent to the participants by e-mail, and also distributed after arrival at the Conference.
The Conference Proceedings (cost incl. in the registration fee) will be available on the day of arrival at the reception desk.

Accommodation

Accommodation for the participants is arranged in two- or three-bedded rooms with bath in the "Siwarna" rest house, Zakopane-Koscielisko, 32 Sywarne St. The cost of accommodation and board for one person per 24 hrs is zl 67. Thus the entire cost for five conference days is zl 335 and should be paid till April 30 to the bank account of System-Modelling-Control given in this announcement. Since bank transfers from abroad take very long, foreign participants can pay the accommodation cost in cash in the Polish currency in the " Siwarna" rest house after arrival.
The swimming pool can be used by the participants free of charge in the afternoons and evenings. For extra payment the rest house offers also other recreation facilities (sauna, solarium, well-equipped gym hall, tennis court).
The participants interested in our making board and accommodation reservation for them are asked to fill in the Reservation Form and send it back to us till April 30 at the latest.

Social Programme

How to reach "Siwarna"
On May 20 (Sunday), every hour from 13.30 till 21.30, and on May 21 (Monday), every hour from 8.00 till 14.00 and every two hours from 16.00 till 20.00, the SMC labelled mini-bus will be taking the Conference participants from Zakopane railway station to the "Siwarna" rest house.

The Conference Office can accept only Polish currency. Here are approximate money exchange rates (from April 2,2001):

Money exchange can be made in banks and exchange offices downtown in Zakopane.

Weather
Since Zakopane is situated at the foot of high mountains, you should be prepared for any kind of weather. Be sure to take some warm clothing, too.
